Matt Shea, Republican candidate for the 4th District seat in the State House of Representatives, today announced he has received the endorsement of the National Rifle Association's (NRA) Political Victory Fund. Founded in 1871, the NRA is widely recognized today as a major political force. The NRA has, since its inception, been the premier firearms education organization in the world.
Shea commented, "The right to keep and bear arms is guaranteed in the 2nd Amendment to the U.S. Constitution and in Article 1, Section 24 of the Washington State Constitution. As an avid hunter, I fully support that right."
Shea noted that he was only candidate running for the seat being vacated by retiring State Representative Lynn Schindler to receive the endorsement from the NRA Political Victory Fund. Representative Lynn Schindler has also endorsed Matt Shea as her replacement. Incumbent Representative Larry Crouse, who holds the seat for Position One in the 4th District, has received the endorsement of the NRA Political Victory Fund in addition to Shea.
The Gun Owners Action League of Washington, another group supporting firearms rights, has endorsed Matt Shea's candidacy as well.
Other organizations supporting Shea include Spokane Association of Realtors, the Spokane Police Guild, the Washington State Farm Bureau PAC, and the Washington State Veterinary Medical Association PAC.
Former 4th District State Representatives Mike Padden and Dr. Charlie Wolfe are backing Shea along with Spokane Valley Councilman Gary Schimmels and Spokane City Councilwoman Nancy McLaughlin.
Shea is a decorated Army combat veteran with service in Iraq and Bosnia. He is a graduate of Gonzaga University and the Gonzaga School of Law. He practices law in Spokane and lives in Mead.
